Custom Printed Packing Tape Builds Your Brand and Sells Your Products

Packing tapes can be plain, printed with stock messages or can be custom printed packing tapes. The last option can convert your packages into brand ambassadors. The custom printing typically involves printing the company logo, name and contact details on the packing tape.
You can of course use the printing option to print customized handling instructions and such routine purposes. However, the real value lies in using them to promote your brand and products.
Enhancing the Effectiveness of Custom Printed Packing Tapes
To be effective, the promotional messages need some special attention. They must be designed tastefully and for high visibility. The printing and background color must be selected carefully. The elements of the message should be laid out for immediate comprehension and strong impact.
Your message will then attract attention and be understood clearly by several people during its transit. If you ship thousands of packages and these go to many different destinations, there is every possibility that it will be seen by persons who are looking for just the product or service you are offering.
The contact details, if immediately visible, can then help these persons to contact you. You then get the opportunity to convert this person into a new customer. Even if no such sales take place, your brand will gain recognition. The strong-impact branding message will imprint itself on the minds of many persons, living at distant places.
Custom Printed Packing Tape
Packing tapes are made with different kinds of materials, such as paper, polypropylene, vinyl, PVC, and so on. They might be adhesive tapes or strapping tapes. Adhesive tapes use different kinds of glues, such as acrylic and rubber-based, depending on requirements such as speed and strength of adhesion.
Understand your specific packing needs. Are the packages lightweight, medium weight, or heavyweight? Do you use single-wall or multi-wall or corrugated cartons? Are the packages likely to be under or over packed at times? All these factors affect the kind of packing tape that you should use.
Select the right kind of packaging tape that will handle your packing requirements well. Then attend to the converting them into promotional media. Narrow tapes might allow only a little information to be visible at a time. Just your logo and name, and probably a contact phone number, might be all that it can accommodate. Wider tapes provide more real estate to build your design.
It is important that the design should be tasteful, and highly visible. Do you have the needed design expertise? If not, it is better to call upon the specialized design experience of the packaging tape supplier. They would typically be able to design and deliver custom printed packaging tapes that effectively convey your promotional message.

How To Choose Hand Held Strapping Machine

So you've been given the task of bundling together a big pile of small boxes. Lets say shoe box size boxes, and lets that there are twenty of them. So there you are, surrounded by twenty shoe-box sized boxes, and you've got to get these boxes into some kind of manageable state because they have just been designated for shipment to a new storage facility. As if you weren't lost in the task already, you're superior has just informed you that you have six minutes to get these boxes in some kind of order.
At this juncture it might be time to inform you that you are working alone in this task. That's right, you have to somehow get twenty shoe-box shaped boxed into a transportable, storable state on your own, in virtually no time at all. But don't worry, because I think I have the solution to you. In truth I could offer you several solutions, but one in particular stands out as the dynamic, economic and less wasteful solution. A strapping tool.
Strapping is a plastic or steel ribbon/tape that holds packages together through tension. A very rigid object can be made out of several boxes just a few strips of strapping tied around the pile in vertical and horizontal directions. Think of a classic christmas present with the ribbon that ties at the top into a pretty bow.
Strapping doesn't have a pretty bow (the strapping solders semi-invisibly) but it is the same principle. There are several ways to work with strapping from the semi-manual strap-cutters all the way up to the pneumatic-industrial strapping machines that wrap, pull, solder and then snip the strapping to a tension and to a timescale that no person could compete with.
So you can get your head around what tools are available and more importantly which one is right for you I have put together a list of the different types of strapping tools that are available. I will come clean right now and tell you that as someone who has had some experience with high-volume small-product packaging I am inclined to favour the hand held strapping machines, in a busy and dynamic factory environment they soon become your right hand.
The various types of strapping tools on the market right now range from snippers and leather gloves, to hand held devices and all the way up to large machines with conveyor belts and "keep clear" signs. Which of these you might need depends on the size of the bundles or pile of boxes you need to strap and how fast you need it done. Here are the main types of strapping tools you will want to consider.

Tips on Mounting Into Dry Walls

Attaching anything to a dry wall is a problem most home owners have faced at some stage. Everything from paintings to mirrors each presents their own problems. In most cases, extremely light objects can be handled with products as simple as double-sided velcro tape. Moving up to heavier objects, the situation becomes more complex. Shelving, whitegoods (dryers, washing machines) and of course, televisions fall into this category.
Unfortunately, studs are not always available. Or, in many cases, only one is in the correct position. All wall types present their unique blend of complications, but mounted correctly, nearly every wall can accommodate a quality TV mount.
Television mounts add to the problem, and not only due to physical weight. Television mounts that extend from the wall exert additional pressure for every inch moved forward. It is important not to use guesswork when mounting into a dry wall. Always consult the manufacturer's instructions to see if the model chosen is suitable for dry wall mounting.
Plus, you must use dry wall anchors supplied. If there is no specific mention of dry wall mounting, don't risk it. Stud walls, in theory, should be uncomplicated. Find the studs, screw in the mounts securely and you're done. But, as simple as this sound, we suggest taking out some time to make sure the job is done correctly.
Firstly, never mount into metal studs. Metal studs are strong, however they present a problem for screw threading, and will never be able to grip adequately due to the very thin wall sections of the studs. When mounting into wooden studs, observe the following:
Find the studs using a battery operated stud finder. If you don't have a stud finder, you can locate the studs by tapping the wall with the base of your palm. The sound should change once you hit the stud area, although this is not a guarantee that you actually locate a stud. Or, tap small nails into the wall close to the skirting board - you'll know once you hit wood.
Try to locate the centre of the stud for maximum strength.
Locate both studs before drilling. One stud may have a metal plate join, meaning you may need to locate your mount slightly higher or lower.
Drill your holes cautiously - it's better to drill to small than too big. You need the tightest fit possible with the hardware that you will be using. Before mounting your TV, check the strength of your brackets by firmly pulling up and down on them.
Remember, studs can be placed at different intervals. If you can only locate one stud within the desired range, don't assume that you can use a dry wall anchor on the other. Dry wall anchors can only be used for mounting products specific to this task.

Shrink Wrap - To Pack Anything and Everything

"Shrink wrap" is a common term that you would definitely come across when it comes to packaging. It is an effective method to store and transport the items easily at an affordable cost. The shrink wrap film is usually made of PVC or polyolefin.
The general wrapping method is the same, irrespective of the size of the item that needs to be wrapped. You can simply measure the shrink wrap film, spread it over the item that is to be packed and apply the heat to the film surface. This causes the film to shrink and stick to the item that ensures a secure packaging.
DIY procedure
You can follow the same procedure for a DIY procedure of shrink wrap packaging with the help of any hair dryer and the film bought from a nearby shop. This is good for casual two or three wrappings but to wrap more items, it is advisable to invest in some good shrink wrap machines.
Traditionally, shrink wrap equipments were used to pack DVDs, CDs, tapes, software boxes and many other things. Besides this, now one can also pack gift baskets, food items, invoices, soaps and documents in the shrink wrap film.
Shrink wrap machines
Earlier, shrink wrapping machineries were usually found in industrial warehouse or factories. They were cumbersome machines are required a lot of people who can operate it. But this is not the case anymore! Small shrink wrap machines are now available for use by individuals and small businesses. These are quite inexpensive and shrink film is also easily accessible at cheaper prices nowadays.
Two kinds of shrink wrap sealers
At present, there are two kinds of machines that are available for shrink wrap: L-bar and I-bar shrink wrap machines. It isn't very difficult to set up these machines.
From low until medium volume of shrink wrapping, I-bar machines are most suitable. This kind of sealer machine utilizes a single bar for sealing. The bar is taken down so as to cut down the required area of the film. Heat gun is then employed to make the film shrink and stick to the item, thereby sealing it.
On the other hand, L-bar sealers or shrink wrappers are effective for middle to high volume of wrapping by the shrink film. Hence, they are more suitable for large business companies. As the name suggests, this kind of sealers make use of a sealer bar that resembles in shape to the English alphabet "L". This bar can easily cut the film for packaging, in a single pass.
Further, the film is made to shrink onto the item with the help of a heat gun or heat tunnel. Heat tunnel makes the process of shrinking faster as compared to the heat gun. Hence, you can find several L-bar sealers that have an in-built tunnel for heat. So, bring a shrink wrap sealer today and say goodbye to the hassles of packaging at once.

Custom Printed Packaging Tape Can Carry Your Branding or Sales Message

Printed packaging tapes can be stock tapes that carry standard messages like FRAGILE, or can be custom printed with your own message. A custom printed packaging tape can act as your brand ambassador during the transit of the package.
Just take adequate care to ensure that both the tape material and printing are good quality. Sub-standard tapes and printing can destroy your image, making people feel that you do not care for quality.
Ordering Custom Printed Packaging Tape
Select a packaging tape that is tailored to your packaging needs. Different kinds of tapes are needed for different types of packages. For example lightweight or heavyweight, single-wall or multi-wall, plain or corrugated, etc packages need packaging tapes of different strengths and adhesive quality.
Packaging tapes can be made from paper, vinyl, PVC, polypropylene or blends. Each has its own characteristics and strengths. The glue used can also differ in the speed and strength of adhesion, and suitability for different surfaces. You have to understand these differences to choose the right kind of packaging tape to meet your needs.
Get the tape custom printed with your company logo, name and contact details at the minimum. Custom printed packaging tapes can also carry additional short promotional messages if they are wide enough. Do the whole thing in a tasteful manner so that your brand image is enhanced, not damaged.
The printing can be done not only on the outer surface of the tape, but also on the inside surface of the tubing that holds the tape. While this message will not go with the package, it might serve other purposes, as when you give plain packaging tape rolls as corporate gifts. More typically, it is the tape supplier who uses this space to remind the customer that it was they who supplied the high quality tape.
The Packaging Tape Real Estate
Marketing oriented companies will not let the packaging tape real estate go waste. With widths of 2 or 3 inches, and printable surfaces, packaging tapes offer a good medium for conveying your brand-building and business-promotional messages.
Several people will see the message on the custom printed packaging tape during its transit. Make them notice your message, through appropriate design, including the message itself, the background, the print quality and other elements.

How to Save on International Shipping and Packaging Service

When it comes to international shipping, consumers and businesses must be aware of the cost; furthermore they need to have the how-to knowledge to deal with international export requirements. Shipping is easy, doing it right can be a challenge; when it comes to international shipping, you can leave it to the professionals to do for a fee or do it yourself and take all the risk.
First you need to know that equation behind shipping cost calculation:
You are paying for space in aircraft! So always keep this in mind when packaging. Also be aware that depending on destinations, some countries may refuse the contents, so always check with carriers. Example, Muslim countries prohibit shipment of anything offensive to religion, so sending a Penthouse Magazine to Kuwait will be confiscated.
Here are few tips on packaging:
1. Choose the Right Box
Use a box that is strong enough to protect the contents and large enough to leave space for adequate cushioning. You can also buy various sizes of boxes, as well as padded mailers, mailing tubes, and other packing materials at the store. If you choose a previously-used box, make sure you remove or cross out any old shipping labels, and make sure the box is in good shape, with no weak spots or cracks. Old or new, make sure the box is made of heavy, corrugated cardboard. Thinner boxes, such as most shoe boxes or gift boxes are not strong enough for shipping.
2. Protect and Pack
Don't skimp on cushioning material. You can use shredded or crumpled newspaper, bubble wrap, or Styrofoam(TM) peanuts, or even plain air-popped popcorn. Pack items tightly to avoid shifting, and make sure the cushioning material covers all sides of the object.
If you're shipping several items together, wrap each one separately and provide enough cushioning to prevent movement.
Fragile items need extra protection:
For extra identification, place a return address label inside the package. After packing, gently shake the box. If nothing moves, it's ready to be sealed.
3. Seal Carefully
A strong seal is essential, so always use tape that is designed for shipping, such as pressure-sensitive tape, nylon-reinforced Kraft paper tape, or glass-reinforced pressure-sensitive tape. These items can be purchased at the store. We recommend you do not use wrapping paper, string, masking tape, or cellophane tape.

An Introduction to Shrink Wrap Machinery

The shrink wrap process involves two stages - the enveloping of the pack in shrink wrap either totally or partially and - the application of heat to the shrink wrap film which activates the material's memory of its non-stretched molecular chains.
The application of shrink wrap can be divided into two principal types - transit and display.
The purpose of transit packaging is to offer the lowest cost option for packaging. The material used is almost exclusively polyethylene, which will provide the appropriate strength at the lowest available cost. A typical application is the collation of individual packs with or without tray support. The most frequent use of the forgoing involves the packaging of a quantity of cans or bottles or cartons for distribution.
The equipment used involves a sleeve or bundle sealer working in conjunction with a shrink tunnel. Two rolls of material produce a sleeve of film around the pack, which is then processed through the tunnel. Generally, these open sleeves do not cause any disadvantages to the pack integrity although a modification can be made to the tunnel whereby an attempt is made to have the hole closed through excess, annealed film.
A considerable amount of automation is offered for this process so that one may find a full range of manual, semi and fully automatic sealers and at maximum through-put, one can find lines with speeds of up to 200 packs per minute.
The processing of polyethylene is distinguished by the need for the shrink wrap film to reach an almost melt state, after which cooling will provide significant additional shrink. As a consequence, tunnels require specific cooling devices if elevated output speeds are needed.
All of this equipment may be used to wrap individual packs where collation is not required but a degree of protection is needed. Applications may vary from radiators through to office doors and bolts of cloth.
The identical processes are also applied but with display shrink film where products have a natural requirement to use a sleeve. Gift wrap and wallpaper rolls fall into this category. The principles remain the same although both the sealer and tunnel will be modified to accommodate individual rolls with appropriately small diameters.
At the most basic level, this is achieved using an L-Sealer and folded film. The product is manually placed between the two layers of film and again manually placed into the sealer. The seal is completed and the pack placed on the tunnel conveyor. This is a continuous process that also produces an element of scrap film.
Automation is applied to the seal head and also to the pack support. Then, the seal process and the removal of the pack to the tunnel become automated. Generally, this is regarded as semi-automation. The clamping of the sealer head will be carried out using either a solenoid or a pneumatic ram. Full automation of an L-sealer will allow packs to be automatically fed into the film and through to the sealer.

The Package Forwarding Company Uses Various Means of Transport For Quicker & Safer Delivery

Though business between two countries was prevalent since time immemorial, our world has shrunk further, thanks to the globalization wave that has taken over our lives. People no longer use only the products and services of only one country. This international business scenario requires lots of goods to be transferred from one place to another, from one nation to another. Observing the prospects of this business, many courier and shipping companies were established. You can learn more about the services offered by the package forwarding company and make the best use of them.
Different modes of transport and their combinations are being used by the package delivery companies for providing the best services to their clients.
Road: There are different modes of transportation that are used to move the goods from one place to another. This could be either through the road networks where the huge vehicles like trucks, vans and containers carry the goods to far places. This is the best method for inland transport within the country borders or between countries which are connected by huge landmasses and roads. Though this is the most economical mode of transport, it takes longer time to reach the goods if the distance is longer. However, road is the best way to reach even the nooks and corners of the nation.
Rail: This is another form of land transport which is faster and cheaper than road, but not that deeply penetrating.
Sea: When two countries are separated by huge ocean bodies, one of the ways to transport the goods between them is via seas through ships. This is the most economical option as more cargo can be loaded onto the ships. However, shipment through sea takes lots of time and landlocked countries cannot use this facility.
Air: This is the quickest means of transportation of packages and materials from one place to another. Though costlier than other means, the price is worth the quality and speed.

Things You Must Consider While Shipping Fragile Items Through Carton Packaging

Moving any item to a long distance always arises a question on its safety. Mishandling and jerks during shipping often damage the package and the content inside. Think of fragile items like crystal or glass items which require high-end safe carton packaging. This isn't as easy as any other goods. You have to be very careful while packaging of fragile items with carton. Here are the few things you must consider while carton packaging:
Hardness of the carton: For items that are likely to be damaged with a little jerk you need to have hard as well as thick carton so that it doesn't bend due to the weight of the content or tear with a minor scratch. Thickness of the carton also provides cushion like support to the goods, which is chosen depending on the type of items to be packed. There are different types of thickness level available with the combination of hardens for every type of fragile items.
Sealer for security: To hold carton together sealers are used. For delicate items just any sealer will not do. You need to have a strong sealer that will assure that cartons will not open while loading or unloading from the transporting medium. Most often tapes and staplers are used, but their effectiveness has to be considered widely as the weight of the pack may loosen their intensity.
Inside packaging: Packaging from outside is not enough to ensure that delicate goods will be safely transported, inside packaging equally plays the role. There should be a required amount of padding inside the carton so that even if there are thrown into the truck they don't get damaged. For this, thermocol, paper strips and bubble sheets can be used. These padding equipments will provide appropriate shielding from any kind of mishandling.
Marking on the pack: For every sort of carton packaging there are special types of marks assigned. These marks can be warning or note in the form of specific signs or symbols. These symbols are printed outside the pack and mostly for fragile items to guide the handler with proper instructions, like, not to invert it, don't place on a slant surface, handle with care, etc. Marking the pack with such symbols ensures that your goods will be handled with care at the time of loading and unloading because every carriage professional knows the meaning of these signs and always read before handling them.
When it comes to fragile items you have to be extra cautious and follow as many safety rules as possible. No matter if you are a dealer or as user of delicate items, significance of such items is equal for both of them and for this above are the few guidelines.

Packaging Tape Facilitates Commerce

Can you visualize a world without packaging tape? How will you send a package by post, or courier? You can use a twine or string to tie the package, or you can use glue to paste the ends of the package together. These alternatives require more time to apply compared to packaging tapes.
There are also special fasteners like ties, staples and such. Each of these has some disadvantages. For example, ties come loose, and storing it is not as easy as storing packaging tapes. Ties can also be only be used with packages designed for them.
In today's world of tailor-made packaging tapes, these alternatives seem crude and inconvenient. Packaging tapes are versatile, being capable of application in different scenarios.
Applying Packaging Tapes
Packaging tape comes in convenient rolls of standard or custom lengths. They can also come in convenient dispensers, and can also be applied using specialized machines. Whether done by hand or machine, you apply the tape at all points that you want to secure.
Packaging Tapes and Tapes
Packaging tapes come in numerous flavors. There is the narrow cello tape that can be used to secure envelopes. There is the three inch paper or plastic tape with extra quick and strong adhesive that can securely seal heavy packages, even if they are over or under packed.
There are also stretchable tapes, strapping tapes, label protection tapes, double sided tapes and so on.
The tapes can come in eye-catching colors. Others might be clear and transparent. The packaging tape can also be plain, or overprinted with handling or other kinds of instructions, or with promotional messages.
Packaging tapes, particularly the wider varieties, offer good scope for printing your logo, name, and contact details. Such printed packaging tapes can act as your brand ambassador, building brand recognition. Enhanced with product promotional messages, the printed messages can also be sales messages.
Using Packaging Tape for Promotional Purposes
Plain packaging tapes might be less expensive compared to custom printed tapes. However, the opportunity cost of using plain tapes can be high. Particularly in the case of the wider and easily printable tapes, you are wasting promotional real estate. You can use this real estate for building your company brand, or promoting your product or service.
Print the tapes with your company logo, name and contact details. Where possible, add a short but strong sales message for your product or service. Select the tape material, color and printing with a view to high visibility. Lay out the whole message in an easy to comprehend design.

How To Choose A Hand Held Strapping Machine

The various types of strapping tools on the market right now range from snippers and leather gloves, to hand held devices and all the way up to large machines with conveyor belts and "keep clear" signs. Which of these you might need depends on the size of the bundles or pile of boxes you need to strap and how fast you need it done. Here are the main types of strapping tools you will want to consider:
Welders
A welder (or sealer) is a manual or hand held tool that does the job of snipping and tying the strapping together. Now they do not literally tie the strapping because strapping is hard, flat and fibrous and would not tie in a knot very well. Instead they use friction, heat, pinching, pinning or staples to fasten two ends of a strapping together. The friction and heat options require energy so usually come in the form of battery powered tools like the SIAT Digit Smart Welding
Tensioners
If keeping tention is your priority, then tensioners are what you are after. Tensioners are battery or pneumatic powered, one-hand hand-held tools that do the job of tightening and then keeping tight the strapping ready for cutting and sealing. Like the problem that welders get themselves into when you loose tension when you release your grip to seal the strapping, tensioners are tricky when you have to, with one hand, snip and then seal the strapping ribbon that may very well be pulled tight into the bundle
Combination Tools
Combination tools take the welding and snipping automation of the battery or pneumatic powered welding tool, and incorporate it with the pulling-snug of the tensioner. This means that with one hand, at the press of a button, a button that I might add is ergonomically placed right where it wants to be, you are tightening, then snipping and then welding tight a length of trapping around a bundle. If you get a chance to check out the Digit Smart LXT that is currently featured on our homepage you will get a sense of these machines. They battery powered ones are great fun to use.

Shrink Wrap Machines Protect Your Inventory or Household Items

Whether for commercial or household items, keeping both sealed and clean is a necessity when shipping or storing items. Sealing certain foods also keeps them fresher longer. One method of doing this is with one of a variety of shrink wrap machines. These machines use both heat and some type of plastic wrap or sheeting to remove excess air and then seal the plastic around the item. The type of plastic used will vary with the type of item being sealed. Anything that will stand up to the heat used can be sealed using these machines.
The machines vary in size and complexity depending on what is being sealed, and how much production you need to do. Specialty shrink wrap machines are available for those who package things such as pharmaceuticals or vitamins. As these should not be exposed to extreme high temperatures, these shrink wrap machines use lighter plastic and lower temperatures to seal the bottles.
Shrink wrap systems with tunnels are the fastest and most effective way to package a wide variety of products. The L-bar sealer cuts the film and the heat tunnel quickly shrinks it. These systems can be used with either PVC or Polyolefin film and are designed to package CDs, DVDs, cushions for outdoor chairs, and other goods.
A straight bar system, also called I-bar shrink wrap machines, are designed for low to mid-volume use. The straight bar machine is used to cut film around a product after which a heat gun shrinks the film. These are very cost effective and are very easy to use. An example of a product this could be used on would be frozen pizzas.
Shrink wrap L sealers are capable of quickly cutting film without the smoke and odor of a standard straight bar sealer. The two-sided cut provides a better seal and speeds up packaging. These can be used in conjunction with a heat tunnel or a heat gun.
Heat shrink tunnels are another way of sealing shrink film. After the shrink wrap is cut and drawn across the package, a conveyor belt sends it through a tunnel, heating and sealing the shrink film. Systems such as these can be used to seal meat, vegetables and other fresh foods for storage or sale. Children's toys such as puzzles can also be sealed this way.
There are many handheld and stand alone heat bag sealers that are designed to quickly seal bags. Different models are capable of sealing different size bags. They can be used to seal a variety of bags for food and other products. Impulse heat sealers include both hand held and countertop models, depending on the volume being sealed.
There are different brands of each of these machines available for any type of use. They are useful for storage of household items either for the season or until the item is needed again. Everyone could find many uses for shrink wrap machines.

What Kind of Masking Tape Should You Use When Painting?

With all the different options out there, what kind of masking tape should you use? That's a great question! Well, it depends on what you are using it for. Before we get into all of the different kinds of tape, let's go over the size of masking tape.
You can get masking tape from 3/4 inches to 2 inches. We generally use 1 or 1.5 inch tape. Use one inch tape to cover baseboards from roller splatter -which is minimum if you use the right paint and the right roller cover. We'll cover those in another blog for you!.
Then there is the blue masking with orange cardboard core-this is GREAT tape for us!
It's priced right and is thinner than standard blue tape. Being thinner is does not allow paint to crawl (leak) under it which is VERY common with white masking and most blue masking tape.
Frog Tape
Frog tape is a also a great tape to use when you need a very tight seal, meaning you don't have paint crawling underneath and provides you with a very clean straight line... provided you applied it correctly!
How does one apply tape correctly? I'm glad you asked!
How to properly apply masking tape so you don't have paint crawl underneath it and to produce a fresh straight professional line:
1. Wipe your surface, say the top of your baseboard, off completely with a dry rag.
2. Pull off tape in about 2 to 3 foot sections.
3. Hold the tape tightly at opposite ends and start laying it down from left to right once you are happy with the line you have just created.
4. Lastly you need to burnish (rub) the tape. You can do this by taking your hook knife or putty knife and wrap it in a rag. Now take the straight edge and press it along the baseboard from left to right.
This will give you a tight seal provided you used the Scotch Blue tape-orange core or 2nd choice, Frog Tape-though it's a little pricey.
In closing, use white masking tape if you are not going to use it outside, especially in the Florida sun! Also, if you are not using tape to draw the straight lines for you while you paint. (We don't use much of the white masking tape.)
Use blue masking standard for exterior projects. This is to give you have a few more days before the sun cooks the glue to your window frame or other surface and you have a real mess to clean and scrape off!.

If you do not have the design expertise in-house, you can take the design services offered by suppliers of custom printed packaging tapes. With their experience, they can suggest a design that is tailored to the specifications of the tape.

Should You Use an External Or Integrated Shrink Wrap Heat Tunnel?

Most modern shrink wrap systems utilize some type of a heat tunnel. The heat is used to shrink film, either PVC or Polyolefin, for the packaging of DVDs, CDs, boxes, packages and more. A heat tunnel is the fastest way to complete the shrink wrap process, usually taking less than 5 seconds per item. This time is faster with many higher-end machines. The old way of shrinking film was by using a heat gun, which is still popular for low volume applications.
The older heat guns resemble a hair dryer. Many people think that they are in fact hair dryers. Heat guns actually output significantly more heat that a hair dryer. While heat guns will quickly shrink film, they do not evenly shrink the film all at once and require the user to turn the object over a few times to reach the entire surface area. Heat shrink guns are typically used with lower-volume shrink wrap machines, such as straight-bar sealers.
Shrink wrap heat tunnels have been around for some time. They are able to blow hot air around the object being packaged. This allows the shrink film to constrict evenly and all at once. Most heat tunnels have a variable temperature dial that allows the user to adjust the temperature, depending on the type of film and product being packaged.
External heat tunnels are usually integrated with a shrink wrap machine by use of a conveyor system. Once the film has been cut around the product, the operator slides the package onto the conveyor where it is moved through the shrink wrap tunnel. Once the package exits the heat tunnel, another conveyor can be used to transport the product to another area. Sometimes a bin sits at the exit of the heat tunnel to collect packaged material.
Integrated shrink wrap tunnels, such as those found in most Minipack shrink wrap machines, seal film around the object being packaged and shrink the film in one single pass. No conveyor belts are required. This newer style of heat tunnel is now found in most modern shrink wrap machines.
The advantages of an integrated tunnel are speed, convenience and storage space. It is recommended by most professionals to purchase a system with an integrated shrink tunnel if an operator is to be present. If the machine is entirely automated without any human interaction, an external separate heat tunnel is still the equipment of choice.
Separate heat tunnels are a great option for those with existing systems that need to upgrade to something more robust and fast. Tunnels are available in various widths and heights to accommodate most products requiring shrink packaging.

Packaging Tape - Needed For Those Who Ship Often

Many businesses derive a lot of their revenue from online sales or catalog sales that require the shipment of packages to the customer - and thus the need for packaging tape has grown over the years with the advent of the Internet and the rise in online shoppers. Packaging tape can be plain carton sealing tape, or you can purchase printed packaging tape that has an abundance of benefits for the business.
Carton Sealing Tape
Carton sealing tape is often used for to seal packages that must traverse through the mail or other parcel delivery service, like UPS or FedEx. Carton sealing tape can be found in a variety of different sizes and in varying qualities. All carton sealing tape is not created equally - there are definite differences in this type of tape that negate using a cheap brand of carton sealing tape if you plan on shipping an item through the mail. You want a tape that will form a tight bond with the package material so that your package arrives safely. In general, you should buy the best tape that you can afford so that you know your package will not suffer any damage during transit.
Printed Packaging Tape
Printed packaging tape is available from a variety of sources, and features your companies name or other message printed right on the tape. In general, this type of tape is sturdy and strong because it is made specifically for securing packages that will be transported long distances. The benefits of using printed tape for your packages include:
- Lessens the likelihood of theft of your package or loss during transit. This tape is manufactured and engineered to be tough - and its sole purpose is for securing the package while it is being shipped.
- Makes the package tamper proof - or at least tamper evident. Printed tape that has been sliced through cannot be resealed, so your recipient will know if the package has been opened prior to receiving it. This is important for many consumers, and your customer will appreciate printed tape.
- Printed packaging tape looks much more professional than standard tape, and gives even a small business the feel of a larger business. Because the logo and name of the business is printed on the tape, it is also a good way to get the word of your business out, build brand awareness and do a bit of advertising at the same time.
